The first trailer has been released for Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, the movie adaptation of the first in Cassandra Clare’s urban fantasy series Mortal Instruments.
The movie is out on August 23, 2013, and from the looks of this trailer seems to be preserving the elements of the series while presenting them as The Next Interesting Thing for fans of the Twilight series. We are intrigued by the presence of the hipstery nerdy guy, who doesn’t really fit the standard urban fantasy YA tropes, and Jared Harris as Hodge Starkweather, who we hope doesn’t try to kill himself in this movie because Jared Harris never seems to survive any of his onscreen roles but we love him.
Sorry, one more thing… this guy is Anakin Skywalkering the hell out of this movie and it is amazing.
